This Easter, Sujata Banerjee Dance Company has been invited to perform at a series of prestigious venues across the US. The performances and workshops include senior SBDC students Jaina Modasia, Mithun Gill, Rupal Gandhi and Sonia Chandaria Tillu, alongside Sujata Banerjee who will be leading the tour.
San Diego, Friday 23 March – SBDC will be performing as part of Indian Fine Arts Academy San Diego’s (IFAASD) renowned Annual Festival of Music and Dance. Entitled ‘Raga Ranga Ravi Taranga’, the show is dedicated to the music legend Pandit Ravi Shankar. The performance includes compositions and Kathak repertoire based on Pt Ravi Shankar’s ragas; SBDC’s iconic piece Together We Can and a solo performance by Sujata titled Bhagwati Devi. Chicago, Saturday 24 March to Saturday 31 March – Sujata Banerjee will be leading a week of Kathak workshops with the Chicago Kathak Institute. These will culminate in a performance by SBDC and workshop students Katha-scapes on Saturday 31 March at Prairie Lakes Community Theatre, 515 E Thacker St, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sunday 1 April to Sunday 8 April – A week of workshops culminating in a performance by SBDC on Sunday 8 April.
Syracuse, New York, Sunday 10 April – A workshop with students at Syracuse University followed by SBDC’s performance Raga and Rang: Music and Color at Syracuse University’s Hendrick’s Chapel.
