SBDC Programming Board
As part of our strategic development plan and leadership programme, we’re proud to introduce the SBDC Programming Board. It’s a voluntary role. The Board will be taking the lead on decision making on all SBDC events and delivering them with the team of existing volunteer group. The team will also have 3 younger members nominated by Sujata Banerjee, MBE who will be invited to join the PB at times to understand the role of this Board.

The board is made up of three senior dancers of SBDC: Jaina Modasia, Mithun Gill and Showmi Das, who will be accountable directly to the board of trustees, ensuring they reflect SBDC values, artistic vision, and commitment to excellence.

This is a significant step in building sustainable leadership within the organisation, working towards our succession plans and expanding opportunities for professional growth.

I have been part of SBDC for over 25 years and in that time I have had the privilege to be part of something bigger than me. It has always given me a sense of belonging and connections . Over these years I have been a company dance member , teacher admin assistant and have helped behind the scenes for many of its moments .
I have watched the company grow from Strength to Strength , It is safe to say that I hold an unwavering love for SBDC.
My vision is simple.. to keep what our beloved Didi has started . To continue her legacy and love of the arts. Through the programming board we want to continue the development of our students and professional dancers , and a focus on more outreach and community engagement. I will continue to bring my own experiences as an artist to the role and continue to align myself with our SBDC ethos.

I’ve been proudly involved with Sujata Banerjee Dance Company (SBDC) for over 20 years, contributing in a variety of roles that reflect my deep commitment to the company. Over the years, I’ve supported the organisation through admin work, taught as part of the teaching faculty for the past 15 years, and currently perform as a senior company dancer.
SBDC holds a truly special place in my heart. It’s more than just a dance company — it’s a family. The connection I share with the people involved is a bond like no other, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a vibrant and dedicated community.
Watching the school grow and evolve year after year — from its training to its performances — is a continual source of inspiration and pride. I’m passionate about contributing to SBDC’s programming, helping shape the company’s event tragectory while staying rooted in the tradition and spirit that make Kathak and SBDC so unique.
