Hemantika festival
In Conversation with Pandit Birju Maharaj:
Hemantika 2017 will conclude with this unique event for audiences to hear from the living legend of Kathak, Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj.
Maharajji will discuss the development of Kathak through the ages and in particular, over the last 70 years since India’s independence.
The lively evening of discussion and clips from Maharajji’s archives will be led by Kathak exponents Saswati Sen and Sujata Banerjee. It is expected to be of interest to audiences interested in Kathak, as well as in India and its culture, more broadly.
